Birla Sun Life Asset Management Company Limited (BSLAMC), the investment managers of Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, is a joint venture between the Aditya Birla Group and Sun Life Financial Services Inc. of Canada. The joint venture brings together the Aditya Birla Group's experience in the Indian market and Sun Life's global experience.
Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund not only offers a spectrum of savings and investment products for individual, corporate and institutional investors, but also manages two offshore funds. For high net worth investors it offers portfolio advisory services. It is also setting up an offshore Real Estate Fund. The fund house is currently ranked among the top five asset management companies in the country, enjoying the trust of about 25 lakh investors and managing average assets of over Rs. 65,000 crore including offshore funds (as on 31 March 2010).
For its performance and consistency in wealth creation, across all schemes and investment classes, the fund house was recently recognised as ‘The Mutual Fund House of the Year’ by CNBC TV 18 – Crisil, second time in a row, the only fund house in India to have achieved this. The fund house was also named the ‘Debt Fund House of The Year’ and received three prestigious awards, across investment classes for the year 2008 at the same ceremony.
Industry recognition for consistent performance also came in the form of six awards won by the fund house at the ICRA Mutual Fund Awards 2009 in addition to the ‘Star Fund House of the year - Debt’. The Fund House was awarded the ‘Best Group – Mixed Asset Category’ by Lipper, a Reuters promoted international rating agency. Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund also won three awards for scheme performance.
Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund has been recognised for its strong growth momentum and demonstrative fund performance not just in India but also internationally. Hong Kong based magazine, The Asian Investor named it the best ‘Onshore Fund House - India’ at Investment Performance Awards 2009 placing it alongside the best fund houses across Asia.
